In the crossfire.

I have a major 2500-word essay due next Monday, and I'm so stressed that I should really get down to work need a huge eye-candy dosage to keep me functioning. Okay, here goes:

SEVEN CELEBRITY CRUSHES (pinched off the '7-things' meme and in no order of preference)

1. Tay Ping Hui (always nice to start off with someone from home ;p)

2. Brad Pitt (need I say more?)

3. Dermot Mulroney (with crooked smile and endearing lip scar, no less)

4. Richard Gere (a great-looking guy can never be too old...)

5. John Cusack (he's so man-next-door! ;p)

6. Jennifer Garner (the only babe who made it to my list, hubba hubba)

7. Won Bin (whoa - what a different look from his usual poses! still yummy nonetheless...)

NB: I had people like Andy Lau, Kimura Takuya and Angelina Jolie clamouring for a 1 in 7 spot on the list, but alas, a girl can only have a meagre 7...... they remain in my Top 10 though :>

It's such a sin to look so good...

In other news, Jielun is releasing his new album today, 15 months since the previous one ^_^ Poor me might only be able to get it in the mail late next week, because SG's having 2 public holidays this week. Arrrgghh! But it's okay, thank God for piracy!! ;p

And I have been playing nothing other than 发如雪the entire day...

"Look, I'm actually... I'm actually glad that it never happened between us. Well, for example, Ruby. Um, I like her alot... But--and I don't want to go into detail, but it was nice. But afterwards... I knew. What it was like... to be with her. Not that I like her any less. It's just that... I don't know, the mystery's gone. But with you and me......."

Happy 42nd birthday to Dermot Mulroney (I am no stalker, I just happened to read online that it's his birthday today horrrr).

Anyway, more eye candy...

Hmm! Since watching "Fantastic Four" I've always assumed/thought that Chris Evans (Human Torch) was a moy with that boy-boy face, but apparently I am so, so wrong (!!!). I almost couldn't recognise him from HJ's blog o_O He's hot stuff!! (Gunther, this is for you!)

November (ie: painful-work-and-exams month) starts tomorrow, and these days my friends have been saying to me things like "ok gtg, have to wake up 2.5 hours later", "have been awake since 2pm on Saturday" (we were chatting on Sunday NIGHT) and also "just make sure you get 8 hours of sleep every 3 days" (?!?!).

... and I thought my sleeping habits were baaaaaaad. I have no idea how you guys operate on so little sleep -_-

What the world needs now, is love.

In 1998 I watched "My Best Friend's Wedding" for the first time in the cinema. I was 15 then, and very into that 'some years down the road I am going to find someone special and live happily ever after' kind of fairytale romance. I loved the movie - though there were some bits I didn't understand - and even though I hated the fact that Julia Roberts' character did not get together with her best friend in the end, I did not cry.

So Thursday night I saw the DVD for "My Best Friend's Wedding" priced at thirteen (13) (jyuu-san) (十三) bucks. A Julia Roberts movie, for thirteen bucks (!!). Naturally, I bought it in a heartbeat, and on Friday night, a full seven years after I first watched the movie, I put it on and sat down to watch it again. This time, at age 22, I felt like I truly understood the movie for the first time. The pain of giving your blessings to the one man you've always loved... is complex, and so very uncomprehensible. I cried for the first time, at the end when Julia Roberts gave that wedding speech, even though I'd already seen the movie like, what... 12 times (just an estimate ;p)?

That bittersweet ending couldn't have appealed to me any more, because it was so perfect and it was just the way I'd have wanted it to end... now. I guess it's true when people say you view and interpret things differently at different phases of your life. Well, watch this space on my 30th birthday - I might tell you that "MBFW" was one hell of a crappy movie ;)

And of course, of course, I wouldn't have enjoyed the movie that much if not for the eye-candy (like, duh!) Dermot Mulroney. Okay okay, Dermot Mulroney WHO? He isn't exactly an A-lister among the Hollywood stars, but I love him so. He turns 42 tomorrow, but *happy sigh*, I say nothing can be sexier and more charming in a man than his age and maturity!!! The pics say it all, I don't have to explain anything...

Drool your mouths dry, people.

Random trivia: I'm beginning to realise that I have a thing for people who never quite made it to the tip of the top in Hollywood (recalls John Cusack, Kiefer Sutherland, Topher Grace, Michael Vartan, and now Dermot Mulroney) o.O

And hell, if Rupert Everett was straight, I'd take him too - anytime.

Everybody's changing.

Sigh. I just did a random run-through along the Sistic website to see what might be in store for me over the holidays, and I have to say I am mighty disappointed! Because I am prolonging my stay here till mid-December to attend a couple of other people's graduations, I am going to miss:

- RENT

- David Tao in concert

- Oi, Sleeping Beauty! by Wild Rice

... all of which I would have definitely caught if I were back home.

This is my final week of the semester. 6th semester officially down, just 1 more to go and I should be (finally) off to 4th year, I hope. And as if work isn't killing me yet, on Monday I agreed to do a friend's assignments on her behalf (which I have just finished o.O). Someone tell me I have gone absolutely nuts.

Perdido.

Village Cinemas at City Centre is now having a limited special offer where you can see any movie on any day at any time for just FIVE bucks. In Australia where movie tickets can go up to $11.50 on weekends, $5 is a really really good deal. So I decided that I HAD to drop in today and see "Must Love Dogs" (because I like John Cusack!). Nothing spectacular, just a normal, somewhat predictable romantic comedy with bits of corny humour, but it had a pleasant storyline and a few heartwarming moments (and I still like John Cusack! ^_^). And since I am on the topic of movies, any girl (in fact, just anyone) who has a sister should go watch "In Her Shoes" (Cameron Diaz and Toni Collette). I watched it alone, and for a brief moment I did wish I had a sister, hehe (maybe it was just loneliness).

"I carry your heart. I carry it in my heart."

Random trivia: Cameron Diaz has killer buns laaaaa.

It was starting to drizzle this afternoon when I went into the city, and guess who I saw once again, setting up a microphone and guitar?!? The "Tears In Heaven" guy who sings 'only when it rains'.

We might as well be strangers.

I had my final Sem 2 class for Japanese this afternoon, and just before I left the classroom my sensei (whom I am really fond of, more than any other sensei) said to me, among other things:

あなたは絶対に大丈夫です。がんばってね。

As a learner of a foreign language, encouragement like this is priceless. It was also one of those moments when I know I never want to stop learning the language.

To cut a long story short, I finally found Starbuck again, albeit somewhere else, after almost one whole month of not seeing him at his usual workplace. The Beatles flop was gone, and in its place was a horrid new normal-bloke hairstyle which I hated. The Beatles flop, gone! GONE!! I also noted that he had on a RED (?!) tie. Not that I have anything against red ties, but a red tie put together with a black shirt AND green apron is just... wrong. I mean, how much worse can it get? He changes a working environment, starts looking weird and even sports a cruel pre-Christmas image (black, red and green - you get the idea). I have to say I am very much unimpressed...

Maybe his new girlfriend hated that old hair which I'd adored so ardently.

Still I wish you could have stayed on at the CS branch, because your new workplace is so out of the way I don't think I can be bothered much.

On the tram yesterday I saw the cutest moy ever (for those of you who don't have a clue, a moy is a bOY who's on his way to becoming a Man, therefore MOY). And the best thing was, he speaks Spanish and is Spanish (I think) - how sexy is that ;) The luggage tag on his backpack read "MEL" and "MNL" so I assumed he just got off the plane from Manila o.O I was supposed to be studying for my test on the way to uni, but guess what I ended up doing instead?! -_-

Animal nitrate.

Because the past week took my life away (what with two major presentations worth 10% each, and one of them in Japanese!), I decided to give myself a well-deserved weekend break whereby I didn't have to do any work or studying. And BOY did it feel good. I did some shopping by myself on Friday evening; Saturday was mostly spent with Haru at home watching "Mona Lisa Smile" (like, for the 4th time already). Then the Meanies and I caught "Pride & Prejudice" (Keira!) and oh my god how broodingly attractive was Mr Darcy??!!! - fell in love with the character the moment he appeared!!

On Sunday I stayed home to watch abit of "Goodbye Lenin" which was really quite funny. Also went down to the lake in the evening to feed the swans and ducks - with my very much expired Uncle Toby muesli bars (I think their bodies can take it la, right? *fingers crossed* Don't blame me if you get tummy problems). Late evening I took a tram down to St Kilda beach for a walk. Time with the self is so very therapeutic, and I don't think the joy you get out of it can be replaceable. I actually think I will be happy being single for life o.O

It's the end of Sunday now, I feel recharged and ready to take on the new assignments coming up. Hopefully?

Don't know what's with me but I've been on such a HUGE 'Suede' phase lately. "She's In Fashion" on repeat! Wrong timing though, cos they ARE kinda dead now. I hate it so much that I'm someone who loves passe music, because it means I won't get to see these acts 'live' in concerts and stuff. Earlier on Australian Idol it was 'The Eighties", and I knew every song they sang except for one. Now, that says alot about my music taste huh ;p Sigh. I want to watch Whitney Houston in concert someday. Wang Jie too -_-

A case of you.

I was captivated by a voice on the street today.

I was on my way to catch the tram home when I walked pass a relatively dark and unlit area of the street, and there was a young man in his twenties sitting on a chair, with a microphone on a stand, strumming some random chords on his guitar. I kinda liked what he was playing, so I dropped 50 cents into his guitar case on the ground and went into the bookstore which was about five seconds from where he was.

Moments later, he played and sang John Lennon's "Imagine" and my god, his voice was one of the most beautiful I've heard in awhile - it reminded me a little of Richard Marx's husky tone, and it was definitely comparable, maybe even better than some of the Australian Idol people o_O And I may not be an expert at guitar playing but you just know the music was good stuff. "Imagine" ended after a couple of minutes and I was about to leave, when he started to play the intro for "Tears In Heaven" and I knew I had to stay.

This time I stood only about three metres away and listened, to every single word he sang, and I thought they were so full of emotional depth and feel. A number of people spared him some loose change, most of them just walked by without looking... and I just stood still and listened. When he finished the song I went up to him to say thank you for playing two of my all-time favourites so beautifully, and asked if he sings there everyday.

To which he replied with a smile, "Only when it rains..."

<3 !!!!!!!

... I was so intrigued by his answer. It was quick and simple and very unexpected, but those words touched me in a very strange way... I could so imagine myself falling in love with a man who speaks like that :>

In this world where everyone places such great emphasis on speed and efficiency today, I guess it wouldn't hurt to occasionally pause and stand still, and listen to the beautiful sounds that very often go unheard.

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one

Lonesome road.

Warning: The following content may not be suitable for young children

On the way up to my apartment this evening, I shared the lift with a middle-aged Muslim lady (read: conservative) and her daughter, who just got back from a massive grocery shopping trip. They pressed the button for the 6th floor, on which I live on as well. I wondered to myself if they could be new neighbours because I have never seen them prior to today. When we all got out of the lift I made it a point to see which apartment they went into - and they were actually right beside me at 64. Ugh.

For those of you who don't know my previous neighbour (aka old occupant of Apt 64), I have to say that she was the most bizarre person I've ever met. She's a fellow Arts student at the uni, who also lives with her boyfriend, and at weirdest hours of the day (and I mean really really weird, like 4 in the morning, 3 in the afternoon or 8 in the evening o.O) they have sex (!!) like there was no tomorrow.

I am not kidding.

Since last year I have been frustrated with 'strange noises' (and mind you they were LOUD!) coming from somewhere (I was never able to identify its exact source, unfortunately - though I always assumed it came from above my room) and I have tried everything to make them stop. From banging the ceiling with my kendo shinai, writing anonymous notes to the people 'upstairs' to shut the hell up, and finally complaining to the reception downstairs. Nothing worked, because I could not identify where the noises came from. As time passed I became increasingly disturbed by the very loud noises (which were mainly loud moans of "Aaah... aaah..." from the female, and extreme bed-rocking! GROSS!) but there was absolutely nothing I could do -_- Poor me, yes.

The weirdest part about this whole matter was, when I first made friends with this girl sometime last year I'd actually asked if she heard 'strange noises' too, and she gave me this disgusted look and said "Yeah I do...", which all the more led me to think that the noises were definitely coming from upstairs and not anywhere else (who would have expected it to be her??!! -_-).

So anyway, one fine day (or rather, night) a few months ago, they were at it again and I was so ARRRGGGHHH with the moaning and bed-rocking that I decided to finally sit still and listen carefully for the source of the noise. I peeled my ears to the wall and listened carefully... then realised that OMG the noise was coming from the NEXT ROOM ie: my neighbour!!! There was also this loud banging sound (think heavy thrusting) against the wall, which scenario I do not wish to imagine any further -_- It was such a stunning revelation and I was super happy that night ;p Unable to contain my newfound excitement, I immediately broke the news to Piggy, and secretly decided that the next time they get noisy I'll give a tap on the wall and say "Excuse me *name of the girl* but can you please keep it down?!!??"

Strangely enough, the 'next time' never happened for me to scream at her, I never knew why. Since the semester started this July it has been quiet and calm, and for a moment I wondered if sex-crazed *name of the girl* had called it quits with her equally sex-crazed boyfriend. Today I finally knew - they had all moved out, and living next to me now is a Muslim family (who is at least decent and silent at night, thank goodness). I tried to initiate conversation with them by offering to carry their groceries, but they were kinda shy and reluctant to chat. Oh well nevermind. I am glad my peace and quiet is back.

Though I reckon the new neighbours wouldn't be very excited if they knew what used to happen on the bed in their master bedroom ;p

Eeeeeewwww. I feel sorry for them already.

Seven - hold it!
Let's go straight, to number one.

Touch & Go - Straight To Number One.

Err... just to complement the topic of my entry here ;>

Feeling good.

Michael Buble will be performing tonight at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and it makes me feel all the more AAARRGGHHH that I wasn't able to catch him in Melbourne last month. To make matters worse, I know at least two friends (both from DHS, coincidentally!) who will be going to watch the concert.

ASS please remember to call me when he sings "The Way You Look Tonight" :) And err if you are lonely (though I doubt) you can always imagine me sitting beside you!

On to a change in music genre... Piggy and I have kinda decided that we'd go watch Kelly Clarkson's concert here in November o.O I don't know many of her songs, but I'll make sure I embark on a "Kelly Clarkson songs" crash course at the end of the month, to prepare myself for sing-along! ;p

Something in your eyes was so inviting
Something in your smile was so exciting
Something in my heart told me

It might as well be spring.

Was supposed to go for a 5.30pm Body Step class at FF yesterday, but when I got there at 5.30pm sharp, the class had already commenced and there was no way I could find a space for myself and a step platform *sob* I then realised that the FF clock was slightly faster than mine o.O

So anyway I refused to leave after travelling all the way there, so I took a look at the timetable and decided to try something new - RPM. And I had great fun!! It was alot of hard work and my everywhere was hurting after it ended but it was especially enjoyable because one of the cycle tracks was Michael Buble's "SWAY"!!! <3

It's a class whereby you cycle (really vigorously!) with funky music, with an instructor. Don't bother looking for me in the pic, I'm not there ;p

And since we're on the topic of FF, here's a pic of Body Step as well, my other gym love o.O
