You are Trinity-
You are Trinity, from "The Matrix."
Strong, beautiful- you epitomize the ultimate
heroine.

What Matrix Persona Are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

Don't know much about Trinity, but saw the quiz on Piggy's blog, so took it for fun. Upon further reflection, I realised that the Matrix Reloaded sucked big time. Guess it's the last straw between me and futuristic films. *makes a face*

Last day of the semester yesterday (Friday). Was on a mad mobile phone number exchange spree. Got about 6 other numbers from my classmates in Chinese 4A. Gotta admit that Travis (he's half taiwanese & half aussie) is quite cute.

Had a really long and tiring day. Woke at 8.53am when my class was at 9. Reached Redmond Barry (yeah the building with rickety lifts) at 9.20. Good thing Rufus was really nice. And... realised I made a wrong choice by going shopping with totally mad shopaholics like X and W. The clothes they looked at were so unlike me *bLah*, I stood around for half a day waiting for them to browse and fit the stuff. I hate shopping. Think this is the only way I take after mummy.

Hmm. Feeling slightly nostalgic.

Till we meet again.

Yesterday (Wednesday) was the last ever "China Since Mao" (CSM) tutorial for me. I left the tutorial room feeling a tinge of reluctance... that it's been such a hectic semester and I barely got to know the names of my classmates... and now it's time to go our separate ways. On Tuesday, I met one of my CSM classmates at the library and we started knowing each other's names there and then. Yesterday, after the tutorial, I started talking to this American girl sitting beside me for the first time. Isn't it really strange that we all start speaking to one another as the semester comes to a close?

Also... *sigh* It's going to be at least 2 months before I see Mayo again.

Mayo's final lesson was great, as always. There was the usual boring stuff about Chinese nationalism and pride *bLaH*, but I observed that he looked especially good that morning. ^_^ Maybe because he was clad in full black, for the first time. And for once, the shirt beneath his classic black jumper was of a more decent colour. I think it was dark red. No really, red was decent enough. He's come to class in pink and purple shirts before. Beats me why.

I swear Mayo likes me. Well, as a student of course *twinkle*. He's looked at me more times than anyone else in class. He's smiled at me more than anyone else in class. Whenever it came to a "What's the case like in Singapore?" question, I was always his first choice. "What do you think Lynn? Is this the case Lynn? Do you remember the incident as a kid Lynn?" And at yesterday's tutorial, he grinned as he noticed me painstakingly trying to remove the cap off that bottle of apple juice. Bliss.

I was one of the last to finish filling up the teaching evaluation form. Was thinking of how to phrase things in the nicest way possible. I must've been the most biased student I tell you. My response to every question was "strongly agree, strongly agree, agree, strongly agree". And at the last page where they had us put down any comments or whatsoever, it was just filled with praise and admiration for Mayo. Erm well, in terms of relevant stuff of course. Wahahahaha. It was, fortunately, an anonymous survey. Hee.

There's still 2 more years to go and I'm already seeing images of that dinner date in my mind.
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn.

They're both convinced
that a sudden passion joined them.
Such certainty is beautiful,
but uncertainty is more beautiful still.

Maybe I should have come here straight after the O's.

Then I wouldn't have had to go through the trauma (yes, trauma) of the entire A-level crap. Looking back upon the years 2000 and 2001, all I can say is - they were somewhat the worst years in my life. And despite the many close friendships I forged in those 2 years, I never ever want to relive that JC life again. Maybe it's just me... but I know I'm not alone.

Life in JC practically whizzed by. It was week after week, month after month, and hey, before we even knew it, it was time for the promos. A pass in Higher Chinese (not a glorious one at that) saved my skin - saved me from doing the same old crap again the following year. Saved me from having to leave my old class and join a younger bunch of people whom, I'm sure, will whisper among themselves:

"Why is she already wearing the uniform? Oh... So she got retained..."

Maybe I'm overreacting. But seriously, that's the way the world works.

I remember the days in JC when I used to wait in fear for test papers or exam scripts to be returned. The math, the economics. I distinctly remember the familiar heart-throbbing, sweaty palms and wobbly feet everytime I await my name to be called and, verdict to be announced. Fate to be sealed. Memories of the demolition of my self-confidence time and again remain deeply etched in my mind. Even the principal poured cold water on the arts people at every opportunity possible. Not that I cared about that one bit, though. I just thought it was... unfair. We live in a society "based on justice and equality", or so the Pledge proclaims. Ironically, the arts faculty became very much a faculty of second-class citizens in NJC. The memories were so bad... they still give me the creeps recalling them now.

Now here I am, approximately 6000 km away in Melbourne, pursuing a further education which, well, may not exactly be of the best quality in the world. But at least I'm happy. The immense amount of encouragement I get from my lecturers and tutors. The grades I'm getting. The satisfaction I derive from getting back a piece of work bestowed with a good mark. Far cry from what I experienced in JC, I tell you. I'm glad I finally found a place where I'm doing what I want, and most importantly, feeling more accomplished and appreciated.

It's been almost a year since I left home for Melbourne. Despite the neverending whines about missing Singapore et al, I never felt a tinge of regret ever since.

Oh... did I say I wished I came here immediately after the O's? After thinking about all the wonderful people I met in those 2 years, as well as the young adult I've grown to become... Naaah. Not for all the gold in the world.

I'm walking away
From the troubles in my life
I'm walking away
Oh, to find a better day

A tuna sandwich please. Oh yes, with extra mayo.

I had great fun at Mayo's tut this morning. I almost didn't make it to class again!!! But the thought of getting back my essay dragged me to school, despite not having slept a wink the night before. Trust me, I didn't sleep at all. I was just staying online (figured that if I went to sleep I'd have a really hard time waking up anyway) and waiting for time to pass, and reading that silly piece of material meant for discussion (which, in the end, was not discussed again. Well what can I say? It's Mayo). We ended up discussing why Britney (o.O?) and the Simpsons were popular... and also why romantic sappy numbers were easier to write than... (double o.O?) Blink 182 songs.

And boy! His tut rocked, as usual *grins* Now I know never to miss any of his classes again, for this coming sem as well as the next sems to follow =) And hey!! Didja know he actually had a movie part to play in his first year at uni? HhhHhhHh!!! YES!! As a wartime soldier in this "really old crappy war movie called Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence"... which stars David Bowie (what?!) *yawns* Apparently he answered an ad put up at uni, for skinny and frail looking guys :p And he played a soldier who DIED in action WAHahahahHahha... for two hundred bucks... but hey. that was in 1983! =)

Got back the long-awaited essay though. Guess I'll major in chinese studies after all. (Mayo encouraged me to! *beams*)

Sigh. Mayo's just.... just.... amazing. *swoon*

And Teacher
There are things that I don't wanna learn
And the last one I had
Made me cry
So I don't want to learn to
Hold you
Touch you
Think that you're mine
Because it ain't no joy
For an uptown boy
Whose teacher has told him
Goodbye...

How small can this world get?

Heard that Y2 and CL are together.
TOGETHER??!!! Geez... I didn't even know they knew each other. This girl's got alot to update me on when I'm back :p

Caught Matrix Reloaded just 2 nights ago. The ending was just... "huh?" And I had a hard time catching up with the parts I lost in The Matrix... (yes I didn't watch it. A few people were (and still are) traumatised that I didn't. hehe)

Went for a really long singing session with the usual gang last night. We didn't stop till 3.55 am!!! (The place closes at 4. hehe.) Stan's roomie came along too. (turned out that he was Sean's MSHS classmate. To Piggy - Sean is Yolanda's brother. Eeks!) He could sing pretty well though. I was amazed and taken aback, I admit. ai shi yong heng blew me off! *winks at mm* And he told me off for saying Rob from Survivor 6 is an arse *grins* Fortunately though, I changed my opinion towards Rob after watching the Finale... and therefore saved my own skin :p

Once again, I felt like I was back home. The songs we used to love, the songs we grew up with... the songs that brought us together. That warm fuzzy feeling I haven't felt in a long time.

Sigh. I miss home.

I'm suddenly bored and don't wish to continue. My life has always been a drag anyway.

All the world is a stage
And everyone has their part
But how was I to know which way the story goes
How was I to know....
You'd break my heart?

Innocent
Innocent

What's your sexual appeal?
brought to you by Quizilla

On my own - by Eponine from Les Miserables

And now I'm all alone again
Nowhere to go, no one to turn to
I did not want your money Sir
I came out here cos I was told to
And now the night is near
Now I can make believe he's here

Sometimes I walk alone at night
When everybody else is sleeping
I think of him and then
I'm happy with the company I'm keeping
The city goes to bed
Now I can live inside my head...

On my own
Pretending he's beside me
All alone I walk with him till morning
Without him I feel his arms around me
And when I lose my way
I close my eyes
And he has found me

In the rain the pavement shines like silver
All the lights are misty in the river
In the darkness the trees are full of starlight
And all I see is him and me
Forever and forever...

And I know it's only in my mind
That I'm talking to myself
And not to him
And although I know that he's blind
Still I say
There's a way for us

I love him
But when the night is over
He is gone
The river's just a river
Without him, the world around me changes
The trees are bare and
Everywhere the streets are full of strangers

I love him
But everyday I'm learning
All my life I've only been pretending
Without me, his world will go on turning
A world that's full of happiness
That I have never known

I love him
I love him
I love him
But... only
On my own.

Sigh. *sniff sniff*

I had a pretty awesome geog prac class today. Our relief tutor... this Nigerian guy doing his phD... was awfully nice. Man. I'm so having second thoughts about going back to the prac he usually takes.... but *argh* that's on friday at a crappy 9am!!! >.< Anyhow, he was really really passionate about poverty problems. O.O Heh, probably because of where he came from :p He's doing his research on poverty and food security (like, duh!) in Nigeria.

Been a really slack 3 days so far. Skipped Mayo's tute this morning (I can't believe this). Feeling a tinge of regret now... sigh. I shall be good and make it for next week's. After all, I won't be seeing him till July... after another 3 weeks or so. *sniff*

Oh yes and I enrolled in my new subs just 2 days ago... gonna be doing History, Geog, Chinese studies and Linguistics this time. Hope I can finally find a good thing to major in by the end of this year. *fingers crossed*

So totally pissed about Jenna (21 year old swimsuit model??!!) winning Survivor 6, though it hasn't been shown in Aussie yet. NO WAY!!!!!!! *scowl* What was wrong with the jury?! Did they think that Jenna was actually more worthy than Matt? Or Butch? Or even..... *wince* Rob? What a landslide victory too. And even Christy, who vowed never to let her "evil stepsisters" Heidi and Jenna get the million dollars, voted for her. Sheesh. Oh well. The money's not mine anyway. So be it. >.< Looking forward to a much better Survivor Panama this coming fall. (Fall in the US, summer in Oz). Gee. I love Survivor so much. Jeff Probst's simply the man =)

PS to Jo: When Survivor finally recruits participants from Asia, we're gonna do the audition tape together :p No, really.

Recently signed up for a keyboard course. Long story actually. I enquired at this particular music school, and after speaking to this guy who works in the admin dept, realised that one of the keyboard instructors is a friend of mine... though not a close one. Which means, I could have gone straight to him for classes without having gone through the school. Blah. Now I'm caught in this mess now, cos I already sort of *agreed* that I'd take up the course with the school.. whereas this friend of mine also agreed to take me as his private student... very embarrassing, yanno.

By the way, the song above rocks, doesn't it? It was my fave from Les Miserables =)

storm
You are Storm!

You are very strong and very protective of those
you love. You are in tune with nature and are
very concerned with justice and humanity.
Unfortunately, certain apprehensions and fears
are very hard for you to overcome, and can
often inhibit you when most need to be strong.

Oh crap. It's time to plan my timetable again... and after looking at the available modules for Geography, I was kinda wondering if I should think twice about my supposed Geog major. Really, the course descriptions suck.

1) Australia in Asia - This subject critically evaluates the question 'Is Australia part of Asia?'. It does so through a range of topics that reveal the complex and varied relationships that exist between Australia and the Asian region: relationships that might variously be described as indifferent, fearful and, more recently, outright enthusiastic.

2) Global ecology and Biogeography (What exactly is Biogeography???!!!) - This subject serves as an introduction to the disciplines of physical geography and environmental studies, concentrating on the nature of global patterns of species diversity and biogeographic realms...... *yawn*

Should I just do an enriched major in Chinese studies? Asian studies? History? WHAT?!?! I'm lost.

But it's okay, there is always time to change. First year, seriously, is nothing. Your whole uni life is still able to transform 180 degrees in second year ^_^

By the way, just got exam timetable for this semester. Hols are from 2 June till 26 July, but my exams don't end till the 23rd of June. Crap. Which means I'd have to wait - in agony, for my exams to end before I can go home. And I'll be left alone here while everyone goes home early. Sob.

***
Watched X2 with Piggy last Friday. It was really entertaining... with a touch of humour now and then. Great visual effects! And for that few moments it made me wish I had some mutant power too... haha. Anyway, for the benefit of my dear friends who haven't yet watched it, I shall *zip* lest you guys come after me for spilling the beans too much :p
