Back at one.

Because Piggy and I would be somewhat 'free' from 8th June (it's really just her, actually), we have compiled a "movies we could catch before going back to SG" list - something to look forward to in this shitty time of stress, fatigue and anxiety. Doesn't really matter if we don't manage to watch all la.

1. "2046" (just HOW much slower can Australia cinema get?)

2. "The Motorcycle Diaries"

3. "We Don't Live Here Anymore" (Monday before 4pm, perhaps? ;p)

4. Mr. and Mrs. Smith (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

5. Batman Begins (!!!!!!)

6. Madagascar

7. The Assassination of Richard Nixon

The ties that bind.

There are so many (other) things in life that are worth smiling about...

The family.

The friends.

The friends you stay up with online, four times a year... no more no less...

The friends who come to say goodbye...

Still close friends, even though we fight over our men... ;p

Friends who see the outside world with you...

Friends who chase Won Bin with you... ;p

Friends who are equally crazy about taking a pic in front of Baleno (O_o) Damn the stranger who took this photo cos she had absolutely no brains to keep Andy Lau's face in it...

Even bubble gum...

The men ;)

So give a reason for me not to be happy :)

And time, it heals everything
That's what they say
I'll give anything
To make you come back to stay.

Semi-charmed life.

12 weeks of the semester have come and gone, and as usual I felt that little tinge of sadness as my last day of school slowly came to an end, just like every other semester I've been through... and I thought I'll be used to this by now.

I know there are a few more semesters for me to look forward to at uni, but it's just a little hard to accept that time has flown by so fast, and the people you've become somewhat 'friendly' with throughout these 12 weeks - classmates whom I sat next to at tutorials every week, at lectures, doing group assignments together till 8 in the evening, and even my lecturers/tutors... they are all going to fade away from now.

It's been one hell of a hectic semester with 16 hours of school (so far the most I've had since starting uni) and neverending assessments and tests, but this has also been the one semester where I've learnt so many new things - besides acquiring another level of knowledge, I've also learnt how to survive in a tutorial class with myself being the only non-Australian student, learnt how to work well with people I absolutely have no idea about, learnt how to survive in a stress situation whereby one of my members contributed nothing to a 3-person project, learnt how working with Australian boys on group projects can be such a wonderful experience, contrary to my initial beliefs/reservations that boys are slack and lazy (hurhur).

Thank you D and E, it's been great working together :)

As much as I'm always bitching to others about how much school sucks and I can't wait to get out of this crap and start the holidays, I know I'll be missing my school life a hell lot when it finally ends.

Also, at the final lecture of China in Transition yesterday afternoon, my lecturer (who is from China and a very adorable person may I add) actually pronounced the word "kidney" as "kinnie" (which killed me, as you all can imagine). It wouldn't be so bad if it was just a one-time pronounciation, but he repeated the word like 200 times or something, and by the 3rd time he said it, I almost wanted to gag myself to keep from cracking up in a lecture full of people. Naturally, the Westerners had no idea what he was saying (I mean like, what the hell is a KINNIE?), so both my Mexican and British classmates sitting on my left and right turned to me at the same time with a puzzled look - because I was giggling so hard and they knew I could read the word 肾 from the pictures on the powerpoint.

"He meant KIDNEY", was all I managed to say in between my giggles.

God, that was such a funny last lecture. Imagine hearing a Chinaman say "KINNIE" X 200 ;p

Three major obstacles to clear before I can finally take my 16-day break before my Japanese exam, but right now I'm still not doing anything O_o

American Idol Finale from 9-11 pm later! Can't wait :)

I want something else
To get me through this
Semi-charmed kind of life
I want something else
I'm not listening when you say
Goodbye.

The night we called it a day.

One more week left for classes, and that's it for the semester. Third year is seriously going by so fast O.o Then there are the final shitload of assignments left to clear, and after the 7th of June comes an unofficial mini holiday for me, what with the next paper a full 16 days away. How many of the 16 days I will spend studying, we'll all just have to wait and see...

Mom's in Seoul now (again O_o) with her usual bunch of playmates ("play" meaning "theatre" ;p), lucky woman. I wish I were in SG now so I could at least have some fun with the Camry all to myself :( Got a feeling that driving (and parking) skills have deteriorated over these few months, with such minimal practice with Edward (the name we gave to "Piggy's" car), so I seriously wonder if Mom will let me take the car out alone at all, when I get back to SG :x

On an alternative music phase now (Yes Pig, it's NOT rock I remember), tunes of Maroon 5, Coldplay, Puddle of Mudd, and even SHIN (信乐团) are getting onto me, which is almost like a radical change (and addition to) in my music taste ;p Good stuff nonetheless, and thank you all for the recommendations :)

Have bought tics for the Dirty Dancing musical. Seats were not very satisfactory but because I'll be watching it with two mothers (don't ask -_-) who can only make it on Saturday nights, I guess I haven't much of a choice...

Am also pleased to announce that I have finally caught up on Season one of the OC (hurhur). The finale where Ryan had to go back to Chino absolutely killed - not about he and Marissa obviously (-_-), but he and Seth. It was so bad I had to make sure my tissue box was beside me while I watched, and by the time the episode ended I'd used up two pieces of tissue to contain my tears O.o

I am such a wussy -_-

But then Ryan returns to Newport right from Episode 1 of Season 2, so it's all good... it's all good baby.

Outwit, outplay, outlast.

I just spent 2.5 hours in front of the TV watching the Survivor Palau finale. A very satisfying victory. Well-deserved, Tom.

Seven out of the ten seasons I have followed, and am still so very hooked.

On another note I am really busy this week (in fact I am choked), so maybe you guys shouldn't waste your time by coming in here everyday - maybe till Saturday or something.

Need to renew the darn gym membership - I feel the extra flab building up already... -_-

Time after time.

Finally, a night when I don't have to worry what time to sleep and wake up in time for class the next day, because I don't have classes on Fridays. Also, done with test and assignment for this week, and therefore my mind's slightly at ease now. And thank you Pinny for helping me make the decision to keep Fridays free ;p

I haven't mentioned the mountain of work that's waiting for me to clear though. In the next two weeks, I have to complete, in order of submission dates:

1) 17 May, 15-minute group oral presentation on Johannesburg (?!). Stress factor ****

2) 18 May, Japanese listening comprehension test. Stress factor ***

3) 19 May, China in Transition 200-word tutorial report. Stress factor *

4) 20 May, Devt and Urban Env 400-word tutorial report. Stress factor **

5) 24 May, Japanese oral presentation, IN JAPANESE. Stress factor *****

6) 27 May, Japanese project portfolio and 1400-word report, IN JAPANESE. Stress factor *****

7) 27 May, China in Transition 2000-word research essay. Stress factor ***** at the moment but will be *** if I manage to get an extension ;)

Now what excuse shall it be this time? Menstrual cramps, diarrhoea, migraine, fever, chest pain, heartburn, sprained index finger, or lung cancer? ;p

"Snow Wolf Lake" is finally coming to Singapore, BUT during my 2-week September break (usually spent in Melbourne slogging over assignments). Sigh. Very very disappointed that I shall be missing it again, even though I did entertain the thought of flying home to watch it (and also go back for the hols)... and the worst thing was Dad very willingly allowed me to do so. (Good grief, my dad spoils me silly). But I guess at age 22 I should set my priorities right, and since it's not my own money afterall, I've decided to spare a thought for my folks and let it go.

Who knows, the entire team might come to Melbourne or Sydney? And even if they don't, I suppose there is always the DVD to look forward to...

In good company.

Two nights ago I had a really weird dream, and the dream somehow took me to what things could be like between you and me, an unknown time from now. I found it really odd that I'd actually dreamed that, because I have seriously NOT been thinking or brooding about the whole issue anymore, not since the time you said goodbye (no, in fact I did).

Upon revisiting the matter two months after, I guess ending it was the only thing that could have been done, given the circumstances we were facing then. Your parting words still leave me feeling somewhat insulted, but a part of me is honestly glad that it's finally over. Knowing that there will be nothing more for me to expect is, strangely enough, an ease on the mind and heart.

The life stories we've shared for seven months. Moving them all to the trashcan might be a wise (and the best) solution, but I've decided to keep them, not for any other reason, but just as a reminder of how they've shaped my days of transition into adulthood.

Thank you for helping to bring out a side of myself that I never knew I had, and for sharing so many of your life experiences with me. Thank you too, for any slightest feelings you might have felt ... that weren't so definitely platonic.

With that being said, if Fate ever brings you to a spot in a checkout queue behind me again, please do not hesitate to tap me on the shoulder and say hi...

Of course, this sort of thing couldn't go on forever. (If it could, we'd have to turn the entire workings of the universe upside down.) The possibility did exist, but only under specific circumstances, for a specific period. Just like with "peeling mandarin oranges."

The elephant vanishes.

Finally, after four days of slogging I handed in my 2000-word paper on Shanghai's water pollution on Wednesday, which deadline was, as usual, extended for five days after I managed to produce my lecturer an MC for being "unwell". Lecturer was surprisingly really nice and sweet about it, even though I had asked for an extension over an extension (yes, kill me please) and all he said was "now you owe me two bottles of wine!" (because I extended it for a further two days beyond the original extension).

I mean, whoever says a thing like that when you ask for extensions?! That was seriously so cute, coming from my old Grandpa-like lecturer of Devt and Urban Env ;p

And I replied "Ok, what brand would you like?" ;)

Tutor for the same subject, on the other hand, is quite a bitch - oh well, shan't elaborate.

I've got quite a bit of feedback regarding my men-hating ideas and posts - that I am very much opinionated/subjective/bitchy and I should also think about all the women who've been nasty to men, etc. Well yes of course I don't deny the fact that women can be a bitch when it comes to relationships, and DUH there are obviously good men out there, BUT you cannot blame us for feeling this way about them when so much has happened to us and we have come to the point where we have no choice but to see things from this narrow angle. So really, it's just too bad if these bastards spoil the market for the good ones.

The bottomline is, the way we see the world has always been subjective. I would liken this situation to someone who lost a loved one in an accident. Would he think that the world was still the beautiful place it once was? Would he actually be able to thank God for all that has happened?

... It's also like how on the day Wei said goodbye that I stopped believing in God. Freedom and choice issues aside, this is how I want to see it. Same logic.

The hours between.

I am bloody annoyed. Exam timetable was released this morning, and my papers are on:

6th, 7th, and 23rd.

Of JUNE.

????!!!!!!

Thanks Melbourne Uni for giving me absolutely no time to study/prepare for my first two papers, then after the 7th I have to get by SIXTEEN days before I can have a peace of mind.

Grrrr.
