In the crossfire.

Dreaming with a broken heart.

I love how we can be so random sometimes.

After we postponed the supposed "Japanese curry night" that was due to happen over the Easter break, we weren't able to find another day to have everyone around... until Aa-chan suggested, and pretty much out of the blue, that perhaps we could do it on the eve of Anzac Day (public holiday here in Australia), and things kinda fell into place from there!

The spread - Japanese veggie curry for the one vegetarian amongst us, gyoza, and OMFG natto (but we'll get to that topic later)

Both glued to the TV with a pondering frown o_O

Natto, the Japanese "delicacy" that every Japanese loves but (almost) every henna baka gaijin (strange stupid foreigner) hates

OMG, how do I even start talking about this evil fermented beans dish called Natto? Aa-chan, the avid non-Japanese Natto-lover in our group (blueeehh), has been wanting us to have a taste of it since forever, so no surprises when he came to my place on Tuesday night with THREE packs of it x_x

Piggy watches in horror as J demonstrates the slimy-ness and grossness of Natto :p I love this photo, totally candid and HILARIOUS. It's like, HOW in the world would anyone LIKE to eat that??!!

Aa-chan & Natto (note his eyes beaming with excitement)

More Aa-chan and Natto!!!! -_- This is where everyone is supposed to go "Ewwwwww...."

Conclusion: Yes I did try Natto, and not just one spoon of that slimy thing, but at least four if I remember correctly... firstly to convince the neo-Natto people that I was adventurous enough to try it, and also because I wanted to give it at least a couple of tries before I surrendered and said, "Ok this totally STINKS (pun very much intended)!!!!!!" :P

Dinner parties like "Japanese curry night" are one of the reasons why I love being away from home. I mean, how often do we get to do things like that back in SG?!

Until the rainbow burns the stars out of the sky
Until the ocean covers every mountain high
Until the day that 8 x 8 x 8 is 4
Until the day that is the day that are no more.

Songbird.

Those beautiful eyes kill me, I swear.

You may say that I'm a dreamer.

In the midst of this current silence I thought it would be rather appropriate to play the seven Eva Cassidy songs I have on my iTunes.

Now I don't want to sound overly dramatic, because truth be told I am not her biggest fan and neither do I know very much about her... but listening to her songs (and how she interpreted them) had me overwhelmed with a sudden tinge of sadness. I'd never heard her music before, until Gunther introduced to me her version of "Autumn Leaves" a few years back... and just when I thought 'OMG she is soooo GOOD", I realised that she'd passed away in 1996 from skin cancer :(

My recommended list of Eva Cassidy songs, not in order of preference:

1) Over The Rainbow
2) Imagine
3) Fields Of Gold
4) Fly Me To The Moon
5) Autumn Leaves

Indeed there have been many great singers who have passed on way before their time was up, and Eva Cassidy is one of them, who only lived a short 33 years. And as I was telling my friend Ronny on MSN earlier, if I were ever granted a wish to bring back any dead artiste, Eva would definitely be first on my list.

You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Among the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold.

Notes on a scandal.

My double standards have finally come back to bite me in such a stark and ruthless manner, and I never ever thought it could possibly feel like this.

紧紧相依的心如何say goodbye
你比我清楚还要我说明白
爱太深会让人疯狂地勇敢
我用背叛自己完成你的期盼。

Meet me by the water.

Today is one of those days when I just DO NOT feel like going to class. And coming from someone like me, who hardly ever skips class, it is pretty huge. It's not like I woke up late or anything (it is 7.30 in the morning and my class is in two hours) but ... well, it is just one of those blah days. Oh, and not to mention that I haven't done my readings - or PRINTED them...

I was talking to my friend T that night over MSN. I consider him my closest white Australian friend, and also the person who is most anxious for me to get into bed with someone, no kidding. This is why he drives me nuts but I love him to death anyway --

Note: A good amount of coarse language has been censored to fit in with the healthy nature of my blog.

T: F*** him senseless!
L: Oh God I can't believe you told me to do that -_-
T: [my name], for f***'s sake, just have a bf.
L: I can't have a bf JUST for the sake of having a bf!
T: Yes you can!
L: O_o???
T: And yes, you can have sex for the sake of having sex. And you WILL enjoy it! Or else!
L: Oh godddddddd
T: [my name], you're getting too old to keep running
L: So just screw anyone in sight? :D
T: Not what I meant, but that's a good idea!

Ha.

The killing moon.

Despite the fact that

There is still alot about you I don't know
I don't have a clue what exactly this is
I am unsure of where this is going and how it will end
There will be countless moments lost in translation
There is zero physical attraction
I am not letting down my guard
I hate everything you love, and vice versa ;)
I have a thesis due in seven weeks
This is my final semester
My time here is limited

I am happy; have never been this happy in such a long time, and that is all that matters to me now, really.

Life has the most incredible knack for throwing us into certain situations when we least expect them, and that is precisely why I love and hate it so.

Oh this is the start of something good
Don't you agree?
I haven't felt like this in so many moons
You know what I mean?

Whatever makes her happy on a Saturday night.

'Cos tonight we'll go drinking
We'll do silly things
And never let the winter in
And it'll be okay like everyone says
It'll be alright and ever so nice
We're going out tonight
Out and about tonight.

Suede - Saturday Night.

Things have definitely changed within those 12 hours, and in the midst of feeling like my current life is one major soap opera, I am plagued with confusion and don't know what to think, feel, or do.

Why NOW, of ALL times, and why YOU, of ALL people?!

A song, played on a solo saxaphone.

Very, very random post.

The week-long Easter break officially starts today. I have a shitload of work to complete by the end of the week (and you ask me what's new) but also a possibly equivalent number of non-academic activities lined up -- Japanese curry night, "300", fish & chips at St Kilda Beach, FOOD, and yes... alcohol, duhhhh. Did I also mention that I have 2000 words of the thesis to write by Thursday? Plus a speech script and oral test to prepare for, both in Japanese???!!! -_-

In other news, "Miss Saigon" (aka the musical that TOTALLY represents "SPG-ness" :p) last Saturday was awesome, but I have to say that I didn't quite like the female lead as much as I did the guy who played "The Engineer"... give me Lea Salonga anytime man. And can I just say that "Miss Saigon" has got the most gorgeous OST I've ever come across in a musical (they could have done better with the lyrics but great songs nonetheless)!! Now I shall patiently wait for "Phantom of the Opera" to swing by in August :)

The Thai government banned Youtube in the country... oh dear. But damn, I wish I'd known about it earlier so I could at least watch that video before it was taken off the site :p

Errr... happy holidays everyone!

A song played on a solo saxophone
A crazy sound, a lonely sound
A cry that tells us love goes on and on.

The Last Night Of The World.
