4.39 in the morning, and I am up because I'd just finished watching the very first match of FIFA World Cup '06. Germany won 4-2 against Costa Rica - umm, not that it was surprising anyway. I know close to nothing about soccer (I have to admit it's mostly because of eye candy that I watch the World Cup or Euro :p), but I thought that was a kick-ass match.

I can't believe it's been four years. I still remember being in the cinema with ZS and KC watching "Insomnia" on the night Turkey was playing against South Korea in the finals (?)... and because the Turks kept scoring goal after goal (within 10 minutes or something), I was getting neverending 'live' SMS score updates through my mobile phone, and whispering the news of "Turkey scores yet again??!!" to the two of them sitting next to me in the dark. The good old days when we were still teenagers :)

Teenage memories and Nakata Del Piero Beckham soccer hotties aside, the World Cup will always be of great significance to me. You and I know why.
